i erased the machintosh hd partition when i tried to install windows 10 using bootcamp. when i open disk utilities mac hd is gone, i dont see it anywhere so im pretty sure its deleted. I reinstalled mac using lion and now i have an older version of mac and i cant update any futher. which is mac os x 10.7.5. before i tried installing windows i had mojave. I followed a guy on youtube and i type commands into terminal in windows to change windows file name so i could download it. is there a way to get machintosh hd back ?

There might be pieces here and there, but I doubt it. There was a chance to use a disk recovery application or service before you installed other stuff, but by doing that and continuing to use the disk you wrote over what was there. You didn’t have a backup?

No backup?
Forget about it.
Next time, be more careful, and KEEP A BACKUP.

I recommend either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.
If you had a bootable cloned backup created by either of the above, recovery from the erasure would have been easy.
Without a backup... not likely.

It would help if you told us which Mac you have and what year it was made.

Are you trying to recover the files that were deleted?

If so, stop using the computer immediately, shut it down safely, and seek the help of professional data recovery services. The process of reinstalling an OS over what was deleted is going to make recovery more difficult, and your best bet is professional data recovery. It will cost at least several hundred dollars.

In the future, it is critical to keep backups and especially critical to be sure those backups are refreshed before making any major updates to the system.
