Accidently ordered from educational store on Spple website
Am I going to get in trouble from fraud charges or something :S

I was just checking out the prices and forgot I was in the Edu store.

Apple never actually checks to see if you're a student so you won't get in trouble. If you want to be honest and pay the whole price I'm sure if you called up apple and explained the situation, they would be happy to remove the education discount from your order.

Oh right, thanks. :)

What did you order? I'd imagine Apple would check with the more expensive items (iMacs etc.) and not bother with the less expensive ones (iPod Nanos etc.).

Nothing will probably happen... be happy, you saved a bundle. Imagine them having to check every single student order. That would be way to costly for them.

Hahahah, ohwell, I might be going to the college I selected anyway :p Was just curious as to what might happen.

Apparently they send a bill if it your not eligible? Doe's anyone know if this is correct?

Usually they don't even check. When I used the educational discount I was expecting to be asked to show a proof of my student condition but it didn't happen...

Hahaha, I'm actually being serious. I was planing to possibly attend the college and see what discounts(if they did) apply to that specific college.

Relax, they don't check it. It goes by the "honest system". It's whatever, I buy stuff from the education store all the time, it's a lot cheaper. In fact, a lot of people do.

So you accidentally entered your credit card number, confirmed, entered your address, confirmed again and bought it by accident?

Make it up to them by buying AppleCare for it at full price.

Think of it this way though. Apple's still making money off of you, even if you ordered via the edu store. In the grand scheme of things, it costs them pennies on their pennies.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Worst case scenario, they call you to verify it, and the jig is up. Just authorize them to charge you the regular price.

Otherwise, just enjoy your new iMac.

If I start taking classes again, even as a grad, that qualifies me right?

I graduated in 1999. But I am planning on taking some classes online this summer and into the fall to further my education/job potential. As an enrolled student, you get get access to the discount, right? You don't have to be full time do you?

You can avoid prison by having Apple ship it to me.

Tell them it was purchased as a gift and that I am legally entitled to the Education Discount.

This was, you will not get in trouble and I will have a nice new computer!

LOL LOL LOL LOL

Yeah, I am kidding of course.

If you use the education discount in a physical Apple Store, they check your student ID. If you order online they do not check. They occasionally audit people, but I have been a student ordering from the Education Store since 2003 and have never been audited. And just an FYI... iPods, iPhones, iPads, ect... are not eligible for the student discount. Only comptuers and some perheprials.

I bought from the Educational store before and they asked me to scan my ID and send it to them (it was a phone order).

However this time i did it online from the Edu Store and they havent asked for anything yet. It is for a maxed out iMac though that will ship in about 4 weeks time, so maybe they will ask me for ID then, or maybe they will just be happy I've given them a ****load of money and not worry about the 'extra' bit if I wasn't a student.

:)

He said he was already in the EDU store and forgot to go back to the regular store. Read before criticizing.

When i got my Macbook Pro (since returned it, waiting for Air refresh), I was asked to just show my student ID (few years old now), which I flashed to the Apple store worker. He looked at it very briefly, and said okay.

They seem to be very lax about it. Will do the same when I purchase my iMac.

If you get caught just say it was a gift for someone currently in school, you wanted to surprise them instead of just giving money.
