I have a project I am doing and would like to lay out an accordian style brochure aprox 6 pages for someone that can fit in a regular size #10 envelope for easy mailing, I was thinking 4" H x 6" wide. For printing purposes for a client, would this be something that is custom made/cut for a brochure? Increasing printer price?

It's always a good idea to talk to your printer before jumping in on the design, especially when you're trying something new.

I'd start there.

If you're having them fold these for you, usually there is a charge per fold. Be sure your design has enough room in the margins to allow for the folds to not be uniform unless you are doing an accordian style folding.

When a brochure folds in on itself and has each panel open up or several you'll see that the inside panels are a little shorter to allow for the outside fold to reach around that flap. Take a look at any brochures that fold in that way (and you may notice it on some city/state maps if you have one of those laying around although they often go the accordian route).

Costs are always good to get in a price quote from your printer. The more information you give them the better they can price it for you. Its worth asking for their suggestions on cost cutting if price is a big issue for you or your client.

We print exclusively with printrunner.com and they have a good template selection on their site.
