Okay, I asked about this in another thread, but I feel it needs to be asked by itself. I just bought a new iMac, and after creating my accounts, I wanted to change some things, which required deleting the previous accounts. But I am not able to delete the other profiles. I go into the account preferences and unlock the padlock. However, I am unable to click on the other accounts, and the word "standard" remains grayed. I cannot change any of the details from the other accounts because I cannot even access them without signing out of my account and then signing into the others. The minus sign where it allows you to add and delete profiles remains grayed as well, but this is probably due to me being unable to click on the other accounts. I really need help with this, and responses are most welcome. Thanks.

Are you using the Admin account?
And I just want to get this straight, Are you unlocking the padlock for the accounts using the finder (i.e. using get info) or using the System Preferences?
You shouldn't need root to delete an account. In most cases you should only need to be in the Admin/master account.

My account is the Admin. Account. I am signed in under my account. I am using System Preferences, nothing with Finder (I had no idea there was a padlock even in Finder, but that does not matter since I am not trying to do anything with Finder). I am using the padlock that is in System Preferences. This padlock is unlocked. My goal is to delete the accounts that I have created on my computer for my mother and brother. But I cannot, since the accounts remain unclickable and the word "standard" remains grayed out. I so hope I am not missing the obvious, but so far, I have followed everyone's advice and all directions I can find, and nothing allows me to do this. Thanks.

Bizarre, just bizarre.
Weird. All I did was a reboot, not the first time either, and suddenly it started working. Weird. Mac OS X is weird.
