Hi, just revisiting the iPhone after many years on Android.
Without having to install a 3rd party Keyboard, is there a gesture or other way, to insert copied text at a particular exact point, such as mid-sentence or after a particular word in a sentence? I get the cursor where I want the text to be inserted, but then when I tap the cursor again (to invoke the 'Paste' pop-up), annoyingly half the time, the cursor will move/jump from that point.

Gboard has a 'Paste' button/icon, but don't want to install another kb for something that seems such a simple thing!

Thanks for any pointers....

This may help:

Thanks Brian, I've had a read of that article but it doesn't help with the problem of what I'm wanting really. Once the insertion point is where I want it - say between two words - as far as I can tell, you always have to re-tap the screen to Paste. Sometimes it stays put OK, but very often it moves to a different point. The Android Gboard had a 'Paste' icon on the kb so it goes in exactly where the cursor is, the iOS gboard version doesn't have this 😟

Tap the space bar on the onscreen keyboard and hold. The letters on the keyboard disappear and you can place the cursor exactly where you want by moving your finger.

Thanks but I think you misunderstood - I know how to get the cursor exactly where I want it, the problem I'm finding is the pasting of the text when it's where I want it to be pasted. It involves tapping the screen again to get the 'Paste' prompt...the cursor often moves out of it's position.
Try it on Notes or something, you'll see what I mean (unless it's just this phone I've got - an IP11 PM).... Copy some text, position the cursor between two words somewhere in the sentence, then try and paste the copied text where you placed the cursor. Sometimes it'll go in where you positioned the cursor, other times it'll move (to the wrong place) Annoying, as I have to do this a lot during the day....

So the cursor is in place and a three-finger tap doesn't work for you?
I've just tried again on Notes with gboard and I noticed a bar across the top with a paste icon (I never noticed it there yesterday) Yay....thanks for the nudge in the right direction Brian 👍👍
