It's the same, but with the old aspect ratio: of 16:10. A little bit higher resolution than the 21.5 and a little lower than the 27. It is the same technology, IPS and LED backlit. Has a 330cmd compared to 375cmd and 320cmd for the 27 and the 21.5inch.

Basically the quality is the same. The 27 inch right now is their best panel with the highest resolution of the three. All three use the same technology, on par with each other but the 27 has a higher resolution because its the bigger panel. It is a beautiful panel.

I would wait though, they are due to announce a new CD at their event being held on the 27th of next week. I wouldn't buy anything yet until that event.

I have my 24" ACD hooked up to my 27" iMac, and yes, they're definitely the same panel type, except, of course, the 27" makes my 24" look low res. :D

24" LED Cinema Display is 1920 x 1200 pixels, 27" iMac screen is 2560 x 1440 pixels. You do the math...

Man I just ordered my 27" can't wait. It's going to be interesting to plug my older 23" ACD in it. The big screen becoming the smaller one... How ironic, I actually almost the same for my 23" ACD than I paid for my 27" iMac.

Of course the color calibration and brightness will probably be totally off and the design will not be as nice as yours...

But on the bright side, I guess I'll have the options to look at my stuff on a non-glassy screen if needed...

If you're all so confident maybe you can explain the failing display and yellow tint on the 27" beside the graphics card issue. Clearly they are not identical panels.

The pixel size is slightly larger on the 24" ACD vs. the 27" iMac.

Oh, and the 24" ACD doesn't have a three week lead time either...

They're obviously not the SAME panel, since you know, one is 24" and one is 27", but they're both IPS panels made my LG/Philips, and heck, both my 24" LED Cinema Displays have a slight yellow tinge to them. As I've said in a MILLION THREADS, there's NOTHING new about a slight color cast to a display. I've not seen a SINGLE picture that will make me believe otherwise. All the postings here of "OMG my display is piss yellow!" show just a slight tinge to the picture, which is not abnormal for displays of this price range. Again, my I have TWO 2008 Apple 24" LED displays, and BOTH have a slight yellow tinge.

Dear.... lord people!!!!

I had the Apple 24" LED Cinema Display with my Macbook Pro 17".
Excellent display.
However, now I have the superb 27" iMac which can connect to a MBP, so I've no need for the 24" and have sold it without any regrets.
My new iMac display is better in my opinion with even crisper whites and beautifully consistent solid colors, plus extra space of course.

i now have the 24" acd to go with my macpro.

i think its a good screen too actually!!

one thing i will say, the screen is a warmer colour than my macbook. i think thats the way apple are going with things now. its exactly the same as the difference between my iphone 3g and 3gs.

but having owned a 27" the screen was obviously better, being bigger! but the 24 does me just fine

Would you still claim this if Apple had fixed this issue completely? I mean, we don't know what is exactly wrong with the displays and we don't know if Apple is investigating it or not.

Because there are a lot of screens that do not show yellow tinges (note that I'm not saying all lcd's are 100% color uniform!), I still think this issue can be fixed by LG Display or Apple.

my question is not about resolution but panel quality, luminosity, etc...

not need to be smart to see that 24 and 27 are not the same size
