The phone in question was purchased on launch day. I have since bought a new phone. I took the SIM card from the new phone and put it in my old phone and did a restore to prep for sale on eBay.

Now that the old phone is restored, it only displays the "Slide for Emergency Call" screen. I can't access any of the setting without activating.

So, what is the FW version now on this old phone. Does iTunes restore to the latest FW version that was loaded on the phone (1.1.4 in that case), OR does it restore the phone back to it's launch day FW version (1.1.0?). Then after activation, it will give the new owner the opportunity to update the FW. Is that right?

Thanks for your help.

Nobody knows? I guess I should have given more attention to it when I restored? I just figured that someone would know whether or not a restore goes back to it's original condition or that last firmware loaded. Hmm??

I would assume it would go back to the most up to date firmware on your computer, probably 1.1.4, otherwise downgrading wouldn't be much of an issue. I've read you can turn the phone, it will say to make an emergency call slide, slide and type this in: *3001#12345#* and hit versions
but I've also read it doesn't work either...
03.12.06_G is firmware 1.0.0
03.14.08_G is firmware 1.0.1 and 1.02
04.01.13_G is firmware 1.1.1
04.02.04_G and 04.02.13_G are firmware 1.1.2
04.03.13_G is firmware 1.1.3

anything else would be 1.1.4 I'm assuming.

If you happen to be on a windows machine, I heard you can plug the iphone in, then run the about section through itunes, it wills scrol the itunes version and the iphone firmware as well, but this doesn't work with mac.
