Hi,

I ordered my Macbook 14 from BH Photo on October 27, 2021 and as of three weeks ago I got a ship date of mid-Feb 2022.

The laptop arrived Jan 5, 2022 at my family home.

Apple states that you can purchase Applecare 60-days after buying. Does this 60-day clock start when I bought it or when I receive it?

BH Photo states you need to buy it with purchase but last time I did so it was mess activated Applecare through them.

I have been out of country since Dec. 1 due to death of father and will probably be back mid Feb 2022.

Can I purchase Applecare by sending Apple a receipt from BH? I do not have the serial and do not want to have to ask my mother-in-law to open the box and activate the laptop unless I have to.

If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Thanks

It’s usually 60 days from build date which corresponds closely with the ship date of the machine from apples factories to either BH’s warehouse or if drop shipped, then the date of shipment to you. You should be able to add it in my calling AppleCare agreement administration or even do it online.

Spoke to Apple support and idiotic CSR states I'm out of the applecare 60-day window because she said 60-day window starts from purchase date of Oct 27, 2021 not when I received it on Jan. 5, 2022. This is ridiculous as half the items I order at BH are backordered due to the global supply chain & chip shortage issue.

She asked my family member to open the box but i said I am not only going to open the box at Apple Store to show I have not used the device and hope they

If not I will ask my relative to reutrn the device to BH Photo and get my refund.

That’s definitely not true. Apple CSRs are so variable on their helpfulness. I would say HUCA and escalate to “agreement admin”

Called a different CSR and it was night and day. Got Applecare with zero resistance. CSR was amazing and did not talk out of their ass. They just asked purchase date and that was it.
