I have an iphone 3g i got from the US that's locked to ATT. It is currently jailbroken and has a turbosim inside for unlocking. I want to know:

1. If i do a restore in iTunes, will i need to activate the phone again?

2. If i need to activate the phone again, can i use my CLARO (official iPhone 3g carrier in my country) sim + the TurboSim to complete the activation?

3. I have been hearing about "hactivation" and want to know if when the screen comes up prompting me to activate, if i will be able to use this method to bypass activation altogether. After hactivating it, will i be able to just use my TurboSim and sim card like i did before with all the phone's features?

4. This one may be a little stupid, but i have an ATT sim card. Could i use it from my country (where the phone would be roaming) to activate? I assume you need to be within ATT's coverage to complete activation?

5. Should i do a full restore before upgrading a jailbroken iPhone 3g?

So, to put these questions into context, i have an ATT iphone 3g, jailbroken, and using a TurboSim for unlocking. When Apple releases a new firmware and i do the upgrade, i think it will ask me to activate the phone again. I'm not in the US so i don't know if Jailbreaking will bypass the activation or the TurboSim and sim card from the official iPhone carrier here (CLARO) can work together to do the trick. I do understand that my CLARO sim cannot work in the ATT locked iPhone by itself. Any help is greatly appreciated as i have been gooling and i am just thoroughly confused on the activation part of things for people living outside of the country their iphone was bought in.

If the iPhone software is 2.2, I would recommend using Pwnagetool and create a custom IPSW for 2.2.1. That way, you can keep your baseband and install yellowsn0w and you won't need to use TurboSim.

However, If you're already on 2.2.1 and you're using TurboSim just fine, you can just restore the phone, use quickpwn and repwn the phone. by using quickpwn, you hacktivate the phone as well, so you won't need to worry about activations and such.
