I'm on AT&T with 2 legit 3G phones that have 2 year contracts and I know that if I want to all I have to do is jailbreak them and if I ever need to go into the genius bar for something I can always restore and pretty much have a virgin iPhone right... (without violating warranty)??
I'm passing down my 1st gen iPhone to another family member.. and wondering how I could go about activating it so that they wouldn't have to sign up for a 2 year extension... (do I need to actually unlock the phone in order to do this even if its on At&t?)
If I do have to actually unlock then is there a way to get it back to a locked state so that it can be serviced by the applecare I have on it?
I'd rather keep it locked, sign up for the 2 year extension.. and keep the option of using my applecare since these phones while being works of art.. are prone to random hardware faliures
Sorry if this question has been asked in the past.. I did a quick search and didn't find an answer.
