With my Verizon contract running out first few days of August I plan on making my first step into the Apple world and purchase a 8 GB iPhone. My g/f and I are going to be in Chicago beginning of august for a concert and I plan on purchasing my iPhone at the Michigan Ave. Apple Store. My question is can I activate it on any computer since I will be away from home. Could I use a library computer or the business center in our hotel or does it become tied to the computer you activate it with. Thanks for any info.

as long as the computer you're activating it on meets the requirements and has iTunes 7.3 on it you're fine. in a library for example, i'm not sure if you'd have permission to install iTunes and plug something into the USB port and use it. most places have their stuff locked down so you can't do that. you'd better ask first.

ya, i will probably just use the business center in the Hotel, and to the guy who said it is better on a Mac I am sad to say that I am still a PC guy, I was going to buy a laptop this Fall but I have decided to hold off and wait until I can go crazy with a MBP. I am slowly making the move to Mac, after using them on campus I just love how simple they are and how amazing they look it seems that they understand less is more. Also from what I hear the whole company just seems to have a great customer first mentality.
