Had been authenticating to the workplace Active Directory server with my Mac (latest Pro with el Cap installed). Worked splendidly!

Now when I use AD login, the system is FUBAR. Dock doesn't load, apps won't launch. I can login as a local user and everything is perfect. I deleted the local files stored for the AD profile but nothing improved. Deleted prefs for the AD server and re-bound. No improvement.

Are there AD-associated files stored somewhere besides the Users folder? Are any of those files stored remotely?

Make sure that DNS and date/time are working correctly for your Mac. Check that the name of you mac in the Sharing preference pane is the same as that you get when you type "hostname" into terminal.

If those check out, then unbind the Mac, delete it's AD object from the server. Then, update the Mac to the latest OS version, reboot the Mac, then try rebinding the mac. If that does not work then yes, there are some directories/files that can be deleted when a mac simply will not bind to AD. Google "Mac can't bind to AD" and you'll find the path to delete (I can;t remember but it helped me in the past).

Other users can login via AD on this Mac, but I cannot.

I've deleted the entire user folder for my AD account and that solved nothing. Are there other preferences stored locally for AD users?

What is running the AD domain? 2008, 2010?
