active iphone (for ipod wifi use only)

Ive got an iphone that I just want to activate and use as a ipod and wifi use.
With no AT&T service or anyother carrier for that matter.
It is currently not activated and will only show the "plug into itunes" image.

what do I need to do this? please be specific. total newbi at i phone hacking.

IT was a free gift and none returnable.

Both my wife and I have iphones. Im setting it up for my daughter to use as an Ipod touch.

Im all set though.. got it working.

it'll allow you to "hacktivate" the iphone without going through at&t and you can even install some cool apps since you can't make calls!
