Hi there

I wasn't sure where to post this exactly as it's something that has to do with both the operating system and hardware probably. I'm on a MacBook Air with latest El Capitan. But this question is for all laptop models as the operating system is the same.

Basically, I'm tired of having to keep my laptop screen/ lid open during downloads or uploads of files while I'm not doing anything else on the laptop or away from it.

Is there no way to be able to close the screen/ lid down and such basic functions as internet streaming of files would still work instead of all functions going to sleep?

Apple's own "Power Nap" only works for the even more basic functions like email, notifications and calendar stuff. Which isn't enough for me.

Any idea?

Power Nap will also allow iTunes library sharing, access to shared folders and running background applications. I've a old 2011 Air that even when the lid is down, it'd still download torrent files and share files (although it seems the performance and the bandwidth become somehow limited, presumably to prevent overheating).

I am using an system extension called NoSleep it allows all functions to continue with the lid closed but be aware of heat issues with CPU intensive processes.
