my new macbook seems to have developed a glitch. I'm hoping the brainpower on the forums can help out a new "switcher".

I'm getting some random lockups and freezes, fans running overtime etc. on my macbook. When I pull up the activity monitor, it freezes and I just get the spinning beachball, almost everytime.

The other day I had an apple screen popup saying someting to the effect of "hold power button down for x-number of seconds to restart your computer".

Should I start with anything specific or just make a call to apple.

thanks,
brad.

You're getting kernel panics. What sort of third party hardware and software are you running? Do you have third party RAM? Maybe open up Console in the Utilities folder and tell us what the crash logs say. :)
