So I have a game called Trolls vs Leprechauns (link in signature below), which is currently evolving into version 1.2 this week and 1.3 in two weeks. The next logical step for me at around 1.4 or 1.5 would be to go all in for Apple TV.

I chose to make my game free, but ad-supported by AdMob and iAd instead of making a paid app. I know people don't want to spend these days, and I respect that.

Problem is, AFAIK, both AdMob and iAd aren't supported by tvOS. I wish I could just try a $1 price tag on my tvOS app and release it, but if I put a price for tvOS, it will also affect the price for iOS as far as I can understand in iTunes Connect.

Is there any developer who's facing the same problem as I do? What did you guys do? Your input is very appreciated. ;)

I don't believe they want banner ads in any apps but I believe you can get by with ad clips. ESPN does that for sure. Of course, they are ESPN....

You can make a non-universal version of the game. So you can keep your iOS version free, but have a TV-only version for $0.99. That's the only way right now.

Yeah, unfortunately I think this is what I will need to do. It makes sense.
I'll see how it goes on the iPhone, because we're releasing new versions as soon as Apple lets us, and then we'll publicize it a lot more. If people are willing to pay for it, it'll all end well for us :)
