when did it become a paid tweak? went to install it after doing the 7.0.6 update & saw it wasn't free any longer

My memory could be failing me, but I think it's always been a paid tweak. AdBlocker Networks is free through developers repo (blocks iAds that the regular version does not due to agreement with BigBoss).

As to whether it does anything, it most certainly does, and does it quite well

unless I have it confused with another similar tweak , it was free at the time I installed it. almost positive it was adblocker though

What's the source for adblocker network?

Does it actually do anything? I've installed this several times, and it has never worked.

It blocks ads but makes websites useless. Websites like cnet, ign, and now macrumors don't work for me with Adblocker running.

I also have the paid version of the adblocker and I wasn't too impressed with it. A modified host file is the way to go. I have no ads what so ever.

I have Weblock AdBlock for iOS from the iTunes Store. Have had it for a month and got it during its free promo. Blocks some ads.

I've been using an adblocking hosts file since the first day a jailbreak was available for the iPhone 4s. I've never had a problem with it.

I don't find myself visiting cnet or ign, but macrumors works fine on my 5S with adblocker running, and I don't really experience problems with any other websites, but I do have a flipswitch toggle in my control center just in case.

I didn't have problems with macrumors before but starting yesterday whenever I visit the main page safari freezes. I have the toggle as well but it's inconvenient having to turn on and off when visiting those sites and defeats the purpose of having an Adblocker

A modified host file gets rid of ads? How?

Basically reroutes websites listed in the host file to localhost (or 127.0.0.1, if I remember that correctly)

Kinda like how you would reroute gs.apple.com to cydia's server in the iOS 4 days

Weblock is pretty good, but only works when on wifi networks. And you must manually set it up for each and every wifi networks you join. It also doesn't work with Amazon Prime Instant Video because the app doesn't work with proxy servers.

downloaded adblocker networks, already can tell it doesn't work like adblocker did. on the goal.com app, the advertisement on the bottom disappeared, it doesn't with adblocker networks

They suppose to work in conjunction with another not independently.

I had a modified host file and I loved it but it was interfering with channel apps such as ABC, NBC. I could not play their videos with the modified host file but have no problems with adblocker and adblocker networks installed. It's been a while since I had a modified host file so I might give it another try when I have more time.
