With Yosemite on my Macbook Air, I haven't been able to get a PDF file to show up in the Recent Items menu. I was successful with a Word file, but despite what I've read about how to make it work with a PDF, I'm having no luck. I tried opening the Acrobat Reader application and then using its File menu to open the file. Nope. I also tried navigation to the file through the Finder. Nope.

Any other ideas? So far, I don't think much of Yosemite.

Viewing the PDF in Preview worked!

Yes, the suggestion did get the document added to the Recent Items menu. I hope Apples doesn't think this Yosemite "feature" is an improvement.
