Enable wiggle mode > swipe left to the old today view > tap plus sign in top right corner > scroll down and tap on the stock widget you wish to edit. Make sure it is the same size as your stack widget on the home page. Finally, while still in wiggle mode, move the new widget to the home screen and then it on top of your established stack widget. It may take a few tries, as sometimes the widgets will move when trying to hover over and place one upon the other.

FYI. You have an additional unnecessary step in your guide. You don’t need to go to the Today page to add a widget. You can do that on any home page.

It seems silly that you can remove but not add in the above interface. I hate this game of ”remember where your icons were when you add a widget then merge it with another”.

Hopefully in the end when you edit smart stack they will either have toggles or +/- for all the things you can add or remove.
