Add birthdays with no contact

This is a sort of joint iphone and ical niggle.

How do i add peoples birthdays that i do not have or do not have a contact entry for? For example my 1year old neice and other young family members.

Either create a contact for them or manually add it in iCal with recurrence set at yearly.

Add Birthday to calendar, that is what I do for some who are not in my contacts.
