I’ve been thinking about how helpful it would be if Apple Music let users filter or browse their libraries by decade — like 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc.

Right now, there’s no way to quickly pull up all your saved music from a specific era unless you manually create playlists or use workarounds with metadata. For those of us who love organizing by vibe, genre, or nostalgia, this feels like a missed opportunity — especially considering how many other services already allow decade-based exploration (even within curated playlists).

This could be integrated in the Library > Songs or Albums section, or even as a smart filter option. Imagine being able to tap “1990s” and see all your saved tracks or albums from that decade — super useful for parties, road trips, or just rediscovering your own collection.

If you think this would be useful too, I’d encourage you to submit feedback here:

Would love to know if others are craving this feature or have a workaround I’ve missed!

Has Apple done anything in the past few years to improve the library in the Music app? I feel it’s been replaced with streaming

iTunes used to create smart playlists for 70s/80s/90s by default when you made a new library.

You can create smart playlists of your own, just set the rule Year to is in range 19X0-19X9, where X is the decade you want. I typically also add exclusions for holiday and game soundtrack genres for these.
