Hey,

Admittedly, the Touch Bar on new MacBook Pro models is useful in some cases. But as a developer, it's really painful for me to use as a traditional keyboard because most of the time I can't tell if I've hit a key or not (especially ESC). So I wrote a small app that adds the missing haptic feedback to Touch Bar keys (ESC, F1, F2, etc.) It utilizes the built-in haptic engine of your MBP.

It's still in beta, you can download and try it here: http://www.haptictouchbar.com/download/HapticTouchBar.zip

Please leave feedback and testimonials if you find it useful. Better with your MBP model (13" or 15") and if you're using Sierra or High Sierra.

Also let me know what you think about the price $4.99 I'm planning to sell it at. During beta you can get it for free with the coupon "macrumors100" when you purchase within the app (valid till 9/28).

Thanks!
Channing

Interesting app! I don't think it works for me because I don't usually keep fingers on the touchpad when I press the touchbar, and I don't like the inconsistency with the keys. When you sell it, you'll want to make sure you're clear that you aren't really adding haptic feedback to the touchbar--just using the Touchpad's at the same time.

If anything, this app makes it more perplexing that Apple didn't use Force Touch in the TouchBar. Maybe next revision!

After I enabled it, I can't get back to the app's preferences to disable it. Any ideas?

Thanks for your feedback. You can disable or quit it via the status icon.

I think it works even if you don't put your fingers on the touchpad.
