I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 6 which has had severe battery drain for the past week or so.

To fix this ive attempted to remove all mail accounts on my phone with the intention of adding these back via itunes - which I believe I did in Mountain Lion.

Now there is no option for mail in itunes to add mail accounts - where has this gone? Do i need to manually add each email account? Problem is i have 10+ accounts with auto-generated very hard passwords!

What about if i deleted everything on my iphone and 'restored from backup' - would that put back the mail accounts?

I believe iTunes does indeed not have this option anymore. Restoring from backup is an option, but obviously only if the backup is not too old. Also mind you that having more than 10 email accounts on a phone will have a pretty significant impact on your battery life anyway, especially on an old device like yours.

I recently updated to el capitan so there could be a auto-sync issue with icloud or something.

It did this fast drain before and I did something / turned something off.

Yes i dont need all 10+ accounts so will be a good-spring clean anyway.

Will forward emails from accounts to one yahoo account and just reply when im at my mac.

I think ill try the restore from backup and see what happens!
