Add playing song to on-the-go playlist?

I've got my iPod on random and "Without" by Godhead came on. I haven't heard it since I was on ship in 2003 (I mostly stick to my playlists) and wanted to remember to add it when I got home. So I went to add it to the on-the-go and there's no way from the "Now Playing screen. I went to the playlist in the list and added it that way.

I had to swipe all the way down to the W's in my list of songs. There's no alphabet scroll bar and it took waaaay too long. Did I miss something?
