Add ram to macmini 2012 2gb+8gb

Hello. Is it good/ok to remove one ram stick and add a new 8gb ram for total 10gb of ram? Does it works or should i go with 2 x 8 at once?

It will probably be OK, but matched pairs are better. 2 x4 is cheaper than 1 x 8 at the moment if money is tight, and you might not need any more than that anyway.

neither use the oem 2gb with an 8gb stick.


if you force me to pick 2x 4gb or 1x 0gb and 1x 8gb.

Please explain - owc sells a 4+8 option - how would a 2+8 option be any different? Honestly I am curious - not trying to be difficult!
