Add watch face button spotted in video

Not much to go on and remember this was a demo 
Watch at the event in Sep. The wOS is a pre-alpha at best. The screen could just be a placeholder image left in my mistake. We need a much more current view of wOS to make any meaningful determination of what will actually be in the OS.
However it does look like a way to add a face.

Cook has said time after time in his interviews there is more to see in the apple watch.

I'm pretty confident it will happen. Maybe not a launch but when Apple announces the SDK for native apps? I'm really hoping that happens at WWDC. We haven't heard many rumors around software so I'm very curious what Apple will announce at WWDC.
I can see watch faces coming as apps. I'd like to see what developers can do. So for instance, your favorite sports teams, etc.
Good catch, but I believe it's just a way to create additional views of the pallete of options already available. Or as they say in the video at around 2:50, a way to "customize elements" of the faces.
We all know face elements are customizable based on what we've seen in this and Apple's official videos.
My guess is this video just indicates we can set up a few faces to choose from depending on our mood or need - an athletic/stopwatch type face for workouts, a traditional analog face for dressy occasions, etc.
That said, I do think we could see some "branded" faces in the future, as suggested by Piggie in a different thread.

Agreed. You guys are overthinking it. It is pretty obvious that you can save multiple customized watch faces from the options provided by Apple. My intention is to have multiple custom faces based on the band I'm using. There is no option for "user created" watch faces, and there won't be, at least not for a while.
Yes, indeed, I have seen on many web sites, loads and loads and loads of great new Watch face designs for the Moto 360.
There seems to be a great community and following for new and interesting / custom watch face creation for the 360.
I honestly don't feel Apple are going to allow this.
My views are they are going to lock this down "HARD"
We will see some officially approved 3rd part faces to buy via the app store.
Whether Apple ever feels forced into opening it up to users is another matter.
As I've said a number of times, I seriously hope I'm wrong on this one, and Apple will launch or allow a dev to launch a "Watch Face Designer Toolkit" for anyone to use to make their own unique and personal watch faces.
I really hope they do.
I just don't think they will, and it will be VERY controlled. Unless at some point in the far future they feel pressure to back down over it.
Please let me be wrong.
Hopefully at least, as long as they don't break copyright, Apple will, at least be very easy going over watch faces so there can be a GIANT 3rd party library of them.
You only have to Google to see all the 360 ones, so let's hope the Apple watch gets the same level of wide customisation:

Honestly, I think that is the "Steve Jobs" mindset persisting on Apple's culture and I am very happy to see it going away. I loved Steve's Apple, but I love Tim's more imo.
I see it going the same way they distribute keyboards through the App Store, only hopefully without requiring a new app download to include the extension. I think the thing keeping the release of custom watch faces from being anytime soon is the incomplete development of APIs for public-use. Potentially that may be solved when Apple allows 3rd party apps to operate independently of iPhone and opens an entirely new access to the watch.
In the last half decade we've seen a seismic shift in how Apple operates which allows for more things that would have been previously shot down. We also know that these things are pretty long in the making, a good example: they spent at least two years building the extension network we saw in iOS 8 based on closed and incomplete things they've delivered in prior iOS versions. It was awhile to wait, but we got fantastic implementation of extensions.
This. I would be very surprised if it didn't happen. But it probably won't happen right away and some people will complain about it. It reminds me of Rene Ritchie's post on iMore about one minute people telling Apple to slow down, fix bugs and stability in their software and then the next minute others complaining that they're not going fast enough. I just want Apple to get a V1 product out the door with as few software bugs as possible. I don't think custom watch faces are a top priority for launch.

Pre Alpha? Lol. Apple would never had employees demonstrating Apple Watch live - especially as the employees seemed quite rubbish at using it to start with. Pre Alpha shown on thousands of YouTube videos. Do you even know what pre alpha is?
I wouldn't put it beyond them to demo a pre-alpha Watch OS. Kevin Lynch (the guy with the salad bowl haircut) raised his wrist so slowly and carefully that he seemed afraid it wouldn't wake up. After all, they did that with the original iPhone OS.
At the hands on after the Event reporters were only allowed to wear units that ran a wOS demo. Apple reps demoed the actual OS and they only showed limited features and Apps.

Agreed. But what if the rightful trademark/copyright holder releases the watch face? For example - a series of NFL watch faces released either by the NFL or the respective teams.
This seems particularly applicable for collegiate branding. Universities have a lot of control over their branding, and it wouldn't be difficult for them to release a few official watch faces.
