got some audiobooks on cd. first tried putting them on iTunes, sorry 'Music' on my Mac, it worked fine but it wouldnt let me change the media type to audiobooks whether the files were mp3 or aac. don't want them playing in my random music.

saw that apple's audiobook file format is m4b, so figured convert them to aac, change the suffix to m4b and it'll be like adding ring tones.

instead the files opened in Books. I thought great, makes even more sense, and its in the audiobook section and it works fine on my Mac.

but when I open books on my iPhone or iPad the audiobooks section is empty. pdfs dragged onto books on Mac are all sitting happily in the pdf section but the audiobook is missing.

any ideas?

Hello,
I had the same problem... on my iPhone ibooks app my audiobook did not appear. I downloaded a third-party app called Bookplayer. It does the job. I can create a folder for the book title and put all the tracks in it.

In my iCloud drive I created a folder for Audiobooks, then sub-folders for each title. When I add them to Bookplayer, I can create a playlist for my audiobook title. It works well for me and I can move tracks around within a playlist to change the order of play.

I bought a new desktop computer this summer with the latest OS and I've been very disappointed in how iTunes is no longer available. I haven't found the Music app to be user friendly.
