Thinking of doing this to a 2012 Mac mini (with a 1TB Fusion drive). Any potential issues with adding a 7200 rpm drive in the mini? Can the Macintosh HD partition be expanded to include the second drive easily? Thanks.

They make 2TB drives in 2.5" now. But why cheap out on a 1TB HDD? I got a 1TB SSD for $220 just last month.

Well I have a 1TB 7200 already lying around from another machine. I do need more than 1TB of storage though. So I could add my 1TB or spring for a 2TB drive.

If you have a fusion drive, you're already using both connectors on the board, you can't add a 3rd drive.

Just buy a USB3 drive of your choice, and plug it in.

Problem solved.
