Hi guys,

I am thinking of doing a SSD+HDD setup on my iMac and basically my current HD has 2 partitions: Macintosh HD and Boot Camp.

I want to add an additional partition on the Mac HD drive that will act as a bootable backup to the SSD.

When I try to add the additional partition disk utility gives me the warning:

This disk appears to be set up for Boot Camp. If you partition this disk, you may not be able to use it to start up your computer in Windows.

How can I add an extra mac partition without screwing Boot Camp up?

Many thanks,

Stuart.

As far as I know this is not possible because your drive has now a Mac partition and a Windows partition with different files systems on each partition. Possibly a tool like iPartition might be able to work around this.

Did you consider moving Windows from a Boot Camp partition to a third party program like Parallels or VirtualBox?
