Alright, I've been playing with my Apple TV for about a week now and I have to admit it's pretty cool!

Now one of the features of the Apple TV is that I can bring onto my network a foreign laptop and add it as a source on my Apple TV. Which is really cool.

Now that got me thinking. Since the iPhone can play video content and also support WiFi, once it joins my network, will I be able to set it up as a source?

I hope this is supported and would be really cool. Just think of going over a friend or relatives house with a movie on your phone and just adding yourself as a source you will be able to play your content on their TV.

Then the next thing that comes to mind is sharing content to others in an Airport while waiting for a plane.

That would be incredible if the iPhone showed up as a shared source for content on the Apple TV or over iTunes. I'd imagine that streaming video over wifi would drain the battery awfully quick though.

The other thing that would be possible is using the AppleTV as a source for the iPhone. Kind of like a slingbox or a Sony PSP solution. So you could be streaming your AppleTV content to your iPhone from any WiFi connection.

While this may not be a feature out-of-the-box, I wouldn't be surprised to see this added later.

I've seen other posts about this and it was said that the iPhone will currently not be able to transfer files outside of iTunes, no iPhone to iPhone. Don't know about AppleTV though. I would think that would be a function of the AppleTV unit and not the iPhone though. Would be very cool, I guess we'll wait and see.

stay tuned.....

The Apple TV can already accept streams from a "foreign" laptop.

So this should really be on the iPhone. The Apple TV would not be syncing with the iPhone, just streaming content.

I guess the question is whether or not iPhone is viewed as a computer to the Apple TV and how it's iTunes is viewed.

This would be a cool feature for "missing" Video iPod too.
