Adding artwork to AVIs in itunes

So I've been adding avi's to itunes in order to avoid spending countless hours converting them all the mp4. It's working wonderfully, except for one problem that really annoys me. I can't seem to add artwork to any of the video files once they're in itunes... anyone know of any solution to this?

How are you adding them to iTunes? Are you opening them up in QT pro, saving them as a .mov file and then trying to tag them? If so I'm pretty sure metaX should work...

I'm using movie2itunes, which basically does what you just said, without having to go through QT. I'll try metaX

so metaX just crashes every time I try to start writing the file. Which one am I supposed to convert? The .mov reference file that was added to itunes?

The short version: MetaX does not support avi files.

No way around it. Just dump the avi files into visualhub and come back when they're done.

no no, movie2itunes does not do what I just said... it makes a file that is basically a shortcut, that you can import into iTunes... Do what I said in the above post. Open the avi in QTpro ( you need Perian installed). Then save the file as a self contained .mov file ( no encoding or anything like that- it will just resave the file, so it should only take like a minute). Then you should be able to tag the resulting .mov file.
