Ok, so when I bought my mac pro, i didn't want to wait for the bluetooth modules to be added and wait an extra couple months...now I'm thinking that I might want bluetooth haha (whoops...ah well...). My question is, is it possible to add the apple bluetooth module after the fact? Or, should I just go buy a USB bluetooth adapter?

Yeah, you can take your Mac Pro to an Apple retail store and they can pop the Bluetooth modules in for you. I think you buy a module third party and install it but I've never done it.

any idea of the cost? I mean, I guess I could just use up another USB with a dongle (haha...dongle, that's a funny word), but I would like to have the actual apple part if I could just because it's one less thing to have sticking out the back...

Pretty affordable.
Bluetooth module is about 15UKP (<30USD).

Physically moving a Mac Pro to an Apple Store is easier with a team of Ancient Egyptians. Those suckers are heavy. See if you can arrange for the staff to meet you by the loading dock.

yea, and it gets worse, i live 6 hours from nearest apple store, but my fiance is from dallas (the location of two apple stores), so over the christmas break I might have to take my baby (the computer...not her) to the mall and see if I can get one installed...

I had bluetooth and airport expressed installed when i purchased mine at the Apple Store. They didn;t charge me to install the parts since i paid for it there. After my work discount... both were about $65 total.

They met me at my car. Not something you would want to carry a long distance.

so would 30 bucks be a reasonable amount to guess for the bluetooth only? Yea, it is heavy, but I think I'll be okay :)

Are they really that heavy? How much? Not guessing, who knows for sure.

The Stig

Yes, they're really that heavy. Don't know the weight exactly, lets just say damn heavy. It's heavy enough that I'd rather have a USB dongle sticking out the back than have to schlep it to the Apple Store to get the BT module installed.

When I bought my PowerMac, I felt really sorry for the Apple Store guy. The store is on the 2nd floor, and he met us down at the loading dock to drop it off. Turns out the freight elevator was broken and the poor guy had to take it down a flight of stairs.

Anybody else know the weight?

Anybody out there have a bathroom scale (and a Mac Pro)?

yea, it is a little rediculous, but, i don't have a wealth of open USB's...like...i have none, so if it is possible I would just like to haul it up to a store and haul it back to my car...or, this could be an excuse to buy a usb expansion card, but there aren't many that are PCIe and that have gotten good reviews on newegg...:(

ok, my receipt has...

Bluetooth $25.00 after the discount. I only saved $2 with the discount, lol.

Airport Express was $43. I saved $3.44 on that.

So I guess the bigest deal was the $199.92 on the mac pro and the free printer.... damn i need to go cash this damn rebate check.
