Adding Extra Partition Space?

I was searching for an answer online and here, but was unable to find the answer I'm looking for.

I currently have 50GB partitioned for Windows and have been using Windows a lot more lately, mainly for gaming, and I'd like to add more harddrive space to the partition.

Is this possible? Or do I have to completely restart by removing the partition and creating a new one, in turn installing Windows, AGAIN.

Relatively simple but I don't know of any tutorials as such but will give you the overview here. This overview will work if your Boot Camp partition is formatted as NTFS (or you are willing to convert a FAT32 partition to NTFS). A FAT32 image created with WinClone (below) will shrink an enlarged partition back to the size it was cloned from when restored, so that will not help. So, assuming yours is NTFS:

1. Go download the free Mac utility called WinClone. This will allow you to back up your Boot Camp partition as a disk image so you won't have to reinstall Windows all over.

2. Run WinClone to create a clone of your BC partition which can be stored on your Mac OSX disk.

3. Run the Boot Camp Assistant in your Utilities folder and use the option to restore your hard drive to a single partition, thus wiping out the BC partition.

4. Restart your system and then run the Boot Camp Assistant again. Set up the new partition size you want.

5. Run WinClone and use the Restore option to restore the image you made earlier to your new BC partition.

6. When complete your Windows installation should be identical to the "pre-partition enlargement" installation, just on a larger partition.

If your BC partition is FAT32, then I do not know of any method to enlarge it without doing steps 3 & 4 above and reinstalling Windows and your apps, etc.

Who uses FAT32? I have used both XP and Vista under Boot Camp. All have said to format to NTFS.

Surprisingly from reading threads, a lot of people do since they have the choice when setting up Boot Camp- and some people want the simplest way to exchange files between OSX and Windows which remains FAT32 (no need for MacFUSE/Paragon drivers and such to write to an NTFS partition, etc.).

Download and use the free "CampTune" preview from Paragon to resize your Windows partition non destructively. It works for both NTFS and FAT-32.
