Hi,

I have an existing iCloud-account with an Gmailaddress. I want to create an iCloud-emailaddress, but I get always an error that says "Problem with turning the mail on"

The step I took:

- I go to settings on my iPhone
- I select iCloud
- I turn on the Mail option, with gives the prompt to create an @icloud.com email
- I fill in mydesiredname@icloud.com and tap to submit
- I get the error that there is a problem with turning the e-mail on.

Did anyone else come across this error. How did you solve it?

Sign in at appleid.apple.com and, to the right of the "Account" section, click "Edit". Click "Add More..." below "REACHABLE AT" and add the new @icloud email address there. A confirmation email will be sent to your existing iCloud email.

Hi, but I don't have an existing iCloud.com e-mailaddress, I want to create one.

You can only follow your steps if the address already exists, because when i followed your steps I got a message to check my name@icloud.com to check for the verification code. But it doesn´t exist yet, I want to create it.

If you log into iCloud.com, using your Gmail address, and go to email there, do you not see the verification email?

No, when I login to iCloud and select the mailoption I get a message that I should enable the mail-option in iOS or OSX to create an e-mailadress.

Understood.

Have you tried a different iCloud email address than the one you want? I don't know what the standard result would be if one tries to obtain an iCloud address, in the manner that you're trying, that's already assigned to someone else. If it's the error message you're seeing well then there you go.

A call to Apple will straighten this out.
