According to Apple my future iMac has the following:
Memory 800MHz DDR2-SDRAM (PC2-6400). But when I went to the Crucial site and I used the pull down menu and choose the iMac 24" 2.8 ghz Dual Core it came up with DDR2 (5300) which is slower than 6400. I found other memory on Crucial site, but not sure if it is 240 pin or 200 pin they have both. Below is what I found on Crucial. Thanks.

4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module
CT2KIT25664AA800
US $67.99

* Module Size: 4GB kit (2GBx2)
* Package: 240-pin DIMM
* Feature: DDR2 PC2-6400
* Specs: DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64

I think you chose the wrong iMac in the configuration utility.

I ordered CT2KIT25664AC800 (-2GB 200PIN DDR2 SODIMM UNBUFF PC2-6400 CL6). Works like a charm in my new 24" iMac.

Looking at their memory configuration utility, it looks like you chose the iMac 24" 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo Extreme. If you have just the regular (2008) 24" 2.8 GHz C2D, then you should choose the one with the model number (make sure it matches your model number).

Thanks, that is what I did. Now do I wait until Nov and see if the rumor is true that a new iMac is coming? I hate rumors!

Make sure it's 200-pin (laptop) ram - the memory you originally specified is 240-pin. I wouldn't recommend the above poster's ram, though, because it's 667 mhz (you want 800 mhz).
