How do I go about adding someone who uses an MSN handle (i.e. example@msn.com) to my Buddy list in iChat? All I see are options for Aim and .mac.

Thanks for your help.

Only AIM and .Mac accounts are compatable with iChat at this point, and probably will be forever.

I have heard of hacks for iChat that are out there on the web. Look at your own risk though.

Thanks for your quick response. I'm trying to install as few MS products as I can onto my mac so maybe I'll just try and convince my friend to get an AIM account. :D

my expirience with proteus has sucked.

when I quit it, it does not tell the yahoo sever I've disconnected, so my friends are left thinking Im on all day and all night.

so then they try talking to me, and when I actualy do log on, Im bombarded with a ton of old messages that I wasnt there to receive.

Fire is ok....the regular yahoo messenger is the best for just yahoo, however I dont use it because it dosnt let me rename/nickname contacts, and I have so many on my list it would be impossible to remember whos who by just their screen name.

iChat is a dream though - I would seriously pay up to $100 for a version of ichat that supported yahoo. supporting msn wouldnt be bad either, but im not getting my hopes up for either.

ICQ works too! No hack required. Just add your buddies ICQ number into the addressbook and make sure to select that the number is an AIM account, not an ICQ account.

AIM and ICQ interoperate nowadays; it's just not well documented.
joe.
