So I have a 15" 1.67GHz Rev. D PB with (currently) 1 GB of RAM (2x512 MB). My question is how much improvement will I see if I upped this to 2.0 GB? Prices are getting lower all the time, and I'd like to feel a <little> closer to the MBPs :) (though I know that's not likely). Mainly I use my PB for iPhoto, iMovie, GoLive, websurfing (on MR of course), some Keynote presentations, and a little Pages/Word work. Nothing too intense.

When I got my pb I had 1 gb ram, upgraded to 1.5 in september and recently to 2gb. Each time I did notice a little speed gain when having many applications running. I use it as my main machine for graphic desgn. Adobe CS benefits from the additional ram too. And of course World of Warcraft! :D

I'd say if you can afford it get it. I'm sure you'll notice the difference, not in itunes, safari, mail but in those imovie, iphoto, golive projects you mentioned and of course if you have them opened all at once.

So I received my 1GB RAM stick from OWC today, and just got it installed. This bumps me from 1 to 1.5 GBs, and so far I'm pleased. No problems recognizing it, but I'll hang on to my old Crucial 512 MB stick a little longer just to be sure.

My heaviest operation load is normally something like this:
Safari
Pages
Keynote
iPhoto
iWeb
+
Mail
iCal
iChat
iTunes

with all of these going at once, I still observe no pageouts to the harddrive. So, it's all good. When I add in Photoshop and GoLive, I might observe a couple, but I'm happy.

Two thumbs up!
