When I tell Siri <insert name> is my sister. Siri goes on to say Would you like me to remember <insert name> as your sister. I say yes. She goes and adds <insert name> as my manager/spouce/assistant.

I ask for siri to call that exact name, and Siri comes back with I don't know who that person is, and again with this stupid loop. Never actually adding that person to be my sister. Always something else. What confuses me is that siri confirms the relationship status in her question, "would you like me to remember <name> as your sister? So why add the wrong relationship.

Another frustrating loop is if you have two contacts with the same name.
One with the first name and one with the first and last name. When you ask siri to call the one with no last name, you say that name, siri wants to verify which contact you want called, it asks eg. would you like me to call Jennifer biggins or Jennifer. Say Jennifer, and it comes back with which Jennifer, Jennifer Biggins or Jennifer. and the loop continues, unless you start dictating the message as soon as you say Jennifer.

I just want to be able to add the correct relationship for now. This is tiring.

Oh I know. It's just why siri isn't able to is what I am perplexed about. It does a few thinks remarkably well, though the inefficiency in having to wait until it finishes what it has to say before I can speak is a bit arghhh, but all in all siri is quite fun. Just surprised at not being able to complete that simple task correctly.

Anybody with the same problem when trying to add relationships?

Under your bed.
Don't bother trying to tell her who your sister is.

Just say "call my sister". Siri will ask who your sister is, and save it that way.

Siri doesn't seem to understand suffixes read from the address book either.

Also just noticed that if I tried to add my sister manually in contacts, I am only presented with three options; Manager, spouse, and assistant. Does she think we're movie stars or something.

Weird since siri will ask you to tell it who is your brother, who is your sister, who is your dad, etc.. and confirm adding, but never actually registering the correct answer. Most frustrating, as my brother's name is apparently too hard for siri to comprehend, so I thought I would associate him as my brother.

Seems to be a bug when I ask to call my sister. Siri does not ask who my sister is. I added my sister to my contact relationships but still Siri fails.
Odd, because Siri works fine for mother, daughter.

The key lies in what type of contact it is. Those from places like Google will limit choices for relationships. I wouldn't be surprised if Google and others open these options up more in their allowable contact relationship types.

It's because you have your own contact set as an exchange contact. You need to set it as an iCloud contact to get the full set of relationships.

Yeap it's an exchange contact. Will try out iCloud. Though I dread what that will do to my battery life. It's already abysmal as it is.

What if I store those contacts on my SIM? (how do I do that first of all?) Would that give me all sets of relationships?

edit: my iCloud has my gmail for the account, of course everything is turned off at the moment, but would that mean iCloud is syncing with my gmail account rather than my phone. Also, am assuming I'm going to have to turn the exchange account off, to not have duplicate appointments and contacts and what have you, do I delete the entire exchange account, then turn my iCloud account ON using my gmail account? Would that then enable my phone to sync from gmail via iCloud rather than exchange?

Your brother is your assistant and your sister your manager? Sounds a little incestious to me.

I did cringe when it added my sister as my spouse. Siri should've known better, I'm not located in the south.

Same issue here.

I use Google for my email/contacts/calendar and have it setup as an Exchange account. It seems like it only supports Spouse, Assistant, and Manager.

Resolution... Maybe

For anyone having issues with attaching "relationships" if you are using Outlook just list the relationship in the "Nickname" line. It works perfect for me and is a great work around. I don't know if Google's address book has a "nickname section" but I would think it should
