Hi everyone!

I have been searching for an answer for this, but can't seem to find anything appropriate.

While manually recreating playlists from spotify to Apple Music I have noticed that I can't add songs to a playlist directly from the artist page, nor from the direct search results. This makes it a tiresome process to add songs as i need to go all the way to "View Song" , or to the actual album, before I can add it to a playlist.

Keep in mind I can add it My Music, but that's not what I want. I use My Music for whole albums that I love, and playlists for my specific collections of favourite songs. Hence I don't want individual songs in My Music, only albums.

Example of my problem:

There is no "Add to Playlist" option.

But if i go into the album itself, there is no problem adding just that song:

Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, but once you add the single song to your playlist, it will be added to "My Music", which apparently is something you don't want.

In the search results, an "Add to Playlist" option appears if you add a song to "My Music" and wait a couple of seconds before pressing the three dot button again. In any case, adding the song to "My Music" will be unavoidable.

I'm with you on this. I still think in terms of albums or even entire artist catalogs when I add stuff to My Music.

I must had totally missed the few tracks that were added to the sea of albums in My Music. Since there is no way getting the song only into a playlist but not My Music I guess that'll have to be...

Noticed this now as well when you explained it...

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I think very few people are completely happy with having a lot of single songs added to their library. I am adding a lot of chart-based playlists (currently working on a complete playlist of all R&B #1's starting in 1965), so I already have hundreds of single songs in my library now. It's quite annoying, as it means that I will no longer just browse my library in the future, but I will only look at it through the search function, and through smart playlists and manually created playlists.

I am not a Steve Jobs nostalgic, but I think the people at Apple should watch Steve Jobs' iPhone introduction where he proudly showed cover flow as a beautiful way of looking at your library. I never really used cover flow, but it represented a certain philosophy. It's about having a core collection of music, being in love with that collection and with the albums. Cover flow is gone now, because Apple decided to poop on that philosophy.
