I updated my mac to 10.7.2 and did the MobileMe Move to iCloud. It moved my calendar and mail, but my contacts in iCloud only has my Me.com address nothing else.

I have sync turned on and the contact in my Address book on the mac have all my contacts that are listed as On My Mac.

How do I get them to iCloud?

figured it out

I opened Address Book on the Mac and under Preferences > Accounts there is an iCloud listed. Click the Enable Account checkbox. This makes iCloud show in the groups list. Then I was able to drag the groups from the On My Mac list to the iCloud list. This uploaded those contact to iCloud.

Wish there was some instructions posted somewhere for this!
Now we got it.

I updated/installed iOS5 on my iPhone, logged into iCloud to make sure it was 'available'
Got it set up on my iPhone - but iCloud won't sync.
I have not updated or changed anything on my Mac.

Is my Mac the sticking point?
This seems rather silly if so.
It's set up to sync my old MobileMe account so I don't see why it being 'outside of the chain' should prevent iCloud's site from updating live.

Figured it out - as you mentioned, everything has to be in the iCloud group.
which you can't edit on the iPhone.

Boo.
