Adjusting Ink Limit of a pdf

I sometimes need to adjust the ink limit of photographs used in InDesign documents, thats easy in Photoshop and gives us the results were looking for on press.

But how can I do this if the client only provides a pdf to work form. I don't want to bring it into Photoshop. Does Acrobat have an area to do this?

Yes. Acrobat Pro has considerable prepress controls and options including preflighting, support for job jackets, colour space conversions, trapping adjustments and an ink manager.

Does Acrobat have a way to change ink limits though? I know you can use the output preview to highlight areas that are above a defined limit, but didn't see any place to modify the ink limit on the PDF.

That said, you can use the touchup object tool to edit the image, adjust the ink limit, and re-save, as long as there aren't any transparency glitches that arise from doing so.
