From the few posts that I have read, it looks like Mac also utilizes an admin account for installations, etc. and a standard account for the rest of the time. True? I was hoping that it is not true as it can be a pain, albeit a necessary pain. Thanks in advance.

You need admin privileges to run installations and make changes. Your regular user account can have administrative privileges, no need for multiple accounts on a single user machine. However, you can create an admin account, and a 'regular' user if you are a security nut or have other users that you don't want to make changes to the software.

Apple's version of admin account is secure. You need to type in an admin password to do certain things. Thus, you only need an admin account on a Mac.

That's way better than the insecure way Microsoft Windows admin account is implemented.

Both of your posts look like good news!! One account is all that's needed for me. Thanks --
