I made a big mistake,
How is everyone?
I thought I'd be clever and hide my user name from popping up in my neighborhood under my name when people search for online devices using wifi or other airdrop stuff.

Here is what I've done step by step, please help me ! HAHAHAH

1- Unlocked the bolt
2- right clicked on my Admin User Name and it had "Advanced Settings"
3- changed the names

Then unlocked the bolt and restarted the MBP (15" touch bar with 3.1GHZ 16GB ram 4GB vram 2TB SSD version).

I can sign in and everything, but when I hit the bolt in USERS settings the pop up window is blank so I have to enter the name, I entered the name from which I changed it to with the correct password but it wont let me unlock the bolt? It also wont let me enter my original user admin name which is basically my first and last name.

What did I do, can I resolve this? I can't unlock the system preferences to USERS.

I'm guessing you're not able to unlock any other System Preferences pane, either, correct? It sounds like something caused the account to become corrupted or just removed your administrative rights, and the easiest fix is likely to create a new admin account.

To create a new admin login, follow the instructions here.

After doing this, your computer will restart and you'll be taken into Setup Assistant, which will walk you through setting up your computer and a new account. Once you finish the process, you should be able to manage the computer under this new admin account, and troubleshoot your old account. If it was deleted, you should be able to pull your data from your old home folder located in the /Users directory.

Oh wow !
Well that was super sweet thank you so much, so I set up a new admin and freaked out cos I lost all my settings and updates but then I was able to unlock the login user accounts bolt and when I made my "initial admin account" an admin again, I was able to log in with my initial admin account and also unlock the bolt with that account. So strange, so the lesson of the day:

DO NOT CHANGE your name if you should right click or (two finger click) on your admin name to go into the Advanced Settings, just DON'T Go there !!

HAHAHAHAHAHAA !!!

Everything is back to normal yay.

So happy for your prompt attention and support.

Much LOVE
