Adobe CC questions

Can someone explain to me when using Adobe CC why:
1. Once the yearly contract ends, the owner will not have access to his files?
2. If there is no internet connection, can one use Adobe CC?

That's because you are basically renting the software and yes you do have access to CC when you have no internet because you download the CC apps to your Mac.

Re 1.

If the files are local to your machine you will still have them and access to them.

If you have uploaded them to the cloud and stop paying for this storage then you will lose access, so you need to move the files away in good time. This is true for any paid-for cloud storage.

However, you will lose access to the software and so will need an alternative and a plan for how you will migrate any data that has been stored in proprietary format. E.g, Lightroom does non-destructive edits that are not understood by some (any?) other application; but then the same is true of other apps such as Nikon Capture.

An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.

If you stop your membership you will continue to have access to Creative Cloud member free benefits, and if you saved your work to your computer you will continue to have access to those files on your own device. You will no longer have access to the Creative Cloud desktop applications or most of the services that are components of a Creative Cloud membership, and your allowed cloud storage will be reduced to 2GB.
