Adobe CS3 Photoshop Install Hint

Hi everybody

Maybe this is useful information to some of you:

When I tried installing my CS3 (Design Premium) on a MacBook Pro (2.16 Ghz Core2Duo) I realized that the installer only listed a Photoshop CS3 "Update", but no full installation. The installation of Photoshop CS3 was unsuccessful in the end...

The reason was simple: I had Photoshop CS3 beta installed before and somehow this older installation corrupted the newer installer. Adobe offers a solution to this problem: A CS3 CleanUp-script. (Download the script and before running it make sure you backed up your fonts and VersionCue data.)

When the script is done and all your CS3 data gone, the CS3 installer works perfectly.

did you guys do this with the backup or without?

I did this with only backing up my fonts, just to make sure it didn't dump the ones installed by previous Adobe applications. That being said, when running the clean-up program, there was an option for me to "Preview" what it would take out. It shows every path it will affect. Seeing no conflicts (ie, it didn't show that it was going to remove my "Documents" folder), I re-launched the clean-up program and did it for real. Nothing on my hard drive (except, of course, for the Adobe programs) was touched. It worked perfectly! As a side note, it did ask if I had installed any Adobe products in any untypical locations. I'm guessing this is where loss of data really could come from. I'm no expert, though.
