This is NOT a troll post.

See title.

I am experiencing annoying SLOW SCROLL with Adobe Digital Editions on my base M1 MBA with 8 GB of Ram and 7 core GPU. (Adobe Digital Editions or ADE is a DRM management software made by Adobe). I wonder if the slow scroll issue is related to the amount of ram in my system? So if anyone has an M1 MBA with 16 GB of RAM and also happens to have ADE installed, could you give me your input on your experience of ADE running on your machine?

I want to know if more ram would solve the slow scroll issue.

Only having a 8 GB MBA myself - this certainly has to be a Rosetta 2 issue, since latest ADE release is 4.5.11 from back April 2020?

I just checked ADE on our 2013, Intel MBA and it uses 34,2 MB memory reading a normal EPUB with memory pressure green. What is the memory usage on your M1 MBA for comparison?

I'm as yet to check the memory usage. Give me some time.

For disclosure, when I installed ADE 4.5.11, latest version, Big Sur never asked me to install Rosetta 2 or 1 on my M1 MBA.

Also, I should have specified that the books I read on ADE are almost ALL DRM'd PDF books borrowed from Internet Archive. I avoid ePub books as much as possible, as they destroy the book's original formatting. And PDF books, of course, are larger sized vis-a-vis ePub ones.

Once again, give me some time to check on memory usage.

Thank you very much for chiming in!

Scroll issues are virtually never an issue of memory. If you check, you probably have free memory. It's more likely a low level bug somewhere.

I found out that I can use my Bluefire Reader instead of ADE, it's ARM native and it supports Adobe DRM. Sure, it's an iPad app but you can ditch ADE.
