What do you use for asset management (***)? Importing, archiving and labeling? That's something that is still missing from Affinity Photo. Though I read somewhere that they have plans for it.
I have given up on the DAM aspect, preferring to rely on Apple filing system as after much thought I have realised there is little to be gained for me in using this extra layer of organisation (complication). Importing to ***, exporting, going round the houses from one app to another - just does not make sense for me.
Import too Apples filing system, view in FRR, open selection in Affinity, export to wherever and save back to original file does for me. The concept of the *** is simply not necessary for the photography I do. No one is pestering me for stock images, I do not share my work much anymore (reasons-too many to explain), specifically take images I want at the time and file results in clearly titled folders - easy.
I have spent so many of my retirement years trying to run my computer like my old film archive and have now realised that the amateur just does not need that to enjoy their hobby.IMHO.
As an aside; I have been a naughty boy apparently by side-stepping the profanity
[profanity |prəˈfanɪti| noun (pl.profanities) [ mass noun ] blasphemous or obscene language: an outburst of profanity.• [ count noun ] a swear word; an oath. a man with bloodied chin mouthing profanities.• irreligious or irreverent behaviour.]
regulations of the site,; i have therefor gone back and edited this post (plus the quote) so as not to do it again. All a matter of opinion in my opinion. *** knows where it will all end; especially if anyone posts an image of Mr ***** on the election trail
. As for being the arbiters of morality on the web, despite the moderator posting from the UK, I feel that possibly the word causing the admonishment itself is in such worldwide usage for everything from surprise to an illegal drug that it is possibly misnamed as profanity; especially when OMG (unsure about that one-please edit if necessary) is almost an obligatory exclamation momentarily.
Still, all done "in the best possible taste" and "rules is rules"
Oh I forgot "archiving". Apart from backup the days of archiving my work or anyones really (other than for reference/historical reasons) are defunct, I feel. A recognised piece of art will be archived by default somewhere by someone if not the artist. As for reportage and the "I was 'ere" stuff for legal reasons in the first and no reason at all in the second. Just my feeling in this snap it if it moves/or not era.
Kind Regards
Sharkey
