Adobe introduces Lightroom for iPad, iPhone coming soon.

As I understand this from the earlier preview, your files are stored 'in the cloud' and a preview is downloaded to the iPad. Does that mean you will be able to sync catalogues over two computers as well? It looks neat but I don't really see myself uploading my huge Lightroom catalogs to CC.

I'm still much more excited by the Wacom Cintiq Companion where I could run full lightroom and photoshop and have an accurate drawing tool. It is yucky Windows but it might just be my future laptop replacement.
 
While you can download the app for free, using it requires one of Adobe’s Creative Cloud plans (Photoshop Photography Program, Complete, Student and Teacher Edition, and Complete for Teams); there is no option to purchase the app on its own without a subscription. (The least expensive option is the Photoshop Photography Program, which at $9.99 per month includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5, and Lightroom mobile.) If you’re not sure you want to commit to a Creative Cloud plan just yet, you can always sign up for a 30-day trial.

So the question is....is the app enough to get yourself sucked into the Adobe cloud for a minimum of $9.99 a month? For me the answer is easy and simple....not.
 
Not a user of it but somebody doesn't like the Lightroom Mobile App.

Where is the major Aperture update that should now be companioned with an Aperture lite for use on IOS devices?

I've talked about how nice Aperture is to my brother but told him to hold off on buying it because there's "surely" an update soon...and maybe a Mobile-connected version.

There's an App I've been thinking of purchasing that connects to Aperture (not as robust as the Lightroom version) but I am holding off on that as well because I fear if I buy that, Apple will update and that app will either NOT work with the new version or Apple will have a matching App.
 
No reason to hold off on Aperture. Your brother will gets his money's worth regardless of what Apple does.

Not sure if I would get a iPad app right now. Wait at least until WWDC.

There is EXIF data. There is no rating but it is possible to reject or flag photos.

I used it quite a bit last night and find it's really good for an initial pass of a batch of photos. I can flag photos I like and reject those I don't. For those I like I crop them and do some basic developing (exposure, shadows, highlights, etc).

Once back at the iMac I will rate all those flagged photos and develop them further (CA's, perspective, noise, sharpening etc etc). It is much nicer editing on the iPad so I don't have to spend as much time on my iMac.

Already have LR, and I deleted Photoshop and Elements long ago in favor of Pixelmator and Perfect Photo Suite 8.

I think whoever it was doesn't get what it's for.

No Ratings I suppose is a valid point - if you're viewing images with a client, it would be nice to be to rate images - though you can flag them, so it's not all bad.

No captioning / Keywording - The latter is the biggest loss for me

No Exif - There is basic exposrure Exif information on my images

Exporting low res, you only work on the preview - so you don't have to download large files.

I guess the person on twitter wanted full LR on the iPad - We knew that wasn't going to happen.

Best thing of all this is Rev 1, so improvements should follow.
 
I know that many people have given up on Aperture, but I'm excited for Apple response to this. If Adobe uses Apple hardware more than Apple does in a field it's tried to be involved in then I'll switch.

What response? When? Are you hoping for a new Aperture at WWDC in June? Are you expecting an Apeture lite for IOS 7 as part of that?

I also would love to see Apple finally step up with a killer Aperture package for OS and IOS and a new 4K capable ATD II,.....I have not seen or heard anything that gives support to those dreams. Hope springs eternal.
