Adobe on MacBook

Universal Binaries
Until Adobe gets its finger out and releases universal binaries of Photoshop, AI, etc, those products will be slow on any Intel Mac. Memory (having lots of it) helps. The MacBook is fairly easy to upgrade the memory, so get a gig in there and it should run ok.... but don't expect miracles. When Adobe releases CS3 w/ universal binaries, that should be alot better.bodi said:
I had the same question--so I went down to my local Apple store. None of the Intel Macs had Photoshop CS2 on them to demonstrate! Since I use Photoshop so much, it would have been nice to see how it performs before dropping over $2000 on a new laptop...

You could try installing CS2 on an external drive (if you have one), and running it from the external on one of the computers at the Apple store. It would be a little different than running it straight from the machine, but should give you a pretty good idea.
You could also think about going to CompUSA or someplace else that might have the MacBooks on display. Sometimes they have different software installed than the folks at the Apple store.
PS CS2 runs okay but lags under pressure on my MB 2Ghz with 2GB ram. No doubt when Adobe release CS3 and we're given the privilege of spending more money just to have an Intel capable application PS will be fine.
Currently you can use PS on your MB under Rosetta but the fan will kick in constantly and expect slow performance if you're working on large files with many layers.
I wish there was a worthwhile alternative to PS, I would have given Adobe the flick years ago. But now they have increased their monopoly and bought Macromedia.... darn!
