Reports coming in from the photography blogs/forums are to steer well clear for now. Very buggy release and major changes (for the worse) to the import process.

Hmmm.

I updated to latest CC LR & PS yesterday. No obvious problem yet. I don't do the IOS apps.

Hmmm.

I allowed the auto update and yes, the import process is all wonky. It's not that I dislike it (although it doesn't suit my workflow) but that LR crashed immediately when I chose the import folder.

I got things back to the old way and won't change until I read that the bugs are squashed.

Got the update today, crashed, tried this

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-and-el-capitan---mac-os-10-11.html

Still crashes, about every 10 minutes, very poor...

Import process now just totally bizarre.

The wife and I are running the new CC updates without problem on top of El Capitain. The redesign of the LR import process is at best "interesting". Needless to say we turned off that damn Show "Add Photos" screen in the Import Options area of the General tab of the Preferences. Letting you Mac wonder around all your devices to find images might be OK if you are a photo newbie with 3 or 4 images in your entire file system. But when you have huge libraries of images, clipart and moves attached.....that makes no sense and could kill performance while all the scanning is going on. The redesign area also removed zooming in on images until after they are imported, the ability to move images until after they are imported.....etc. IMHO this redesign is mixed bag of smoother UI screens but terrible default options and removed capabilities we used to have. Whoever decided to release this should be out looking for a new job.

BTW, the LR update also has messed up the interwork between LR and Perfect Photo Suite 9.5. So anyone who had updated to LR CC/6.2....be sure to check if all your plugins are working as before.

For those who do CC or just LR, there are new CC, LR, and PS updates out today. Adobe also released new apps for IOS. See article for details.

The redesign of LR6 CC 2015 is an absolute disaster. I have no idea what they weren't thinking as this re-work screws up the whole import workflow for professionals that have depended on it for years. Unbelieveable. Dom't load the update. You WILL be sorry.

Still no options to keyword or add titles/descriptions in the mobile app. It amazes me that the one thing a tablet works perfectly for still isn't supported by the major players.

The new Lightroom version is not usable on my topped out 27in iMac Retina. Crashes constantly, forcing me to abandon this version and reinstall previous version. I like Lightroom, which i've used since version 1. This is the worst blunder I have ever seen. Come on Abobe! You're supposed to be "Professional"

Adobe's Blog has been flooded with complaints about the new Lr update for both the standalone and CC versions. Just about everyone is upset with the new import page, but as McAsan pointed out you can easily get rid of it by unchecking "Add Photos screen" in Preferences or Edit for PCs. So that is really a poor argument. But the majority of complaints center around the loss of several key functions that mainly relied upon in their workflow. These include loss of the Destination Folder tree, the automatic rejection of the SD/CF card after import, the need to unselect the import photos which a obscured by a large check mark in order just to see the photo with the addition of not being able to enlarge the photo to look to see if it is truly in focus, the loss of the Move option for photos. Also lost is being able to see what the filename looks like if you custom name a photo. Their is a huge cry to put these back in. Crashes have been mentioned as well and some experience slowing down of the process. If you want some action from Adobe chime in on the blog. Being angry and calling the update s#*t won't help. But adding to the volume of complaints about lost functions hopefully will eventually reach the ears of the Adobe powers that be. The volume of the response in numbers is hard to overlook. If you just sit around and bitch at your computer screen there is zero chance it will reach anyone. Just IMHO. Oh, you will need to have an Adobe account in order to sign in, but you can always sign up for one.

On1 released a patched version of Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 to deal with the LR .2 release mess. The patched version brings PPS apps back as valid plugins.

Adobe just released another update to Lr. Whether it works who knows...

Edit: Seems to have stopped crashing, import still a mess

Edit2: Nope, just crashed. I think it was checking whether to back-up the catalog

Edit3: Just crashed again on exit. Possibly (Probably?) because Creative Cloud is not running, but then why should I dedicate c10% of my machine 24/7 to one app phoning home?

oh boy, what an update :-(
got a problem after updating: i want to have several pictures in different folders at the same time, for example pic xyz in the folder "2015" and in "special events". in previous versions of LR, i could simply import again and "add duplicates". this feature (don´t remember what it was called exactly) isn´t available anymore (or did i miss it??) and when i try to import, the pic is greyed out and can´t be imported..
can anybody help??

No one help you as long as you are using the new update. Having the option to import duplicates was one of the removed functions that Adobe decided in their wisdom to remove. You will need to go back to the version that existed before this 10/3. Here is a link to show you how to do that.

On my mac Lightroom crashes on every exit even after the 6.2 release update. If it get´s any worse I might have to switch back to Photos ;)

Mine crashes every time it backs up the catalog, and also randomly on exit. This is after the update to the update.

Some hints that Adobe has done a sloppy job, look at the console log. In no particular order, when Lr starts there is a warning about the same class being implemented in two different libraries and there is a stream of DEBUG messages.

This seems to have fixed the crashing for me (on the update of the update):

1. Press Shift and Alt together and open Lightroom from Finder
2. Choose reset preferences from the ensuing dialog
3. When Lr opens, exit without doing anything
4. Reopen Lr normally
5. Set Lr preferences manually back to what they were
6. Exit without doing anything else
7. Open Lr normally and use
8. Reset the choices that aren't in preferences as you come across them

NB: Lr will think you are a new user so all the hellos and dialogs re options come back

The omission of the "eject card after import" option

Hate the rewrite of import....especially the loss of card eject. WTF where they thinking? The good part of 6.2 is Dehaze being included in the Development module local adjustment tools.

Bottom line....6.2 is a major face plant for Adobe.
